Aim
To provide researchers with a practical understanding of how to meaningfully embed patient and public involvement and engagement (PPIE) throughout the research lifecycle, and to support attendees in identifying opportunities for authentic partnership within their own projects. 

Content
This interactive masterclass will explore the principles and purpose of PPIE in health and radiography research, including what meaningful involvement looks like in practice and why it is increasingly important for research quality, relevance, funding, and impact. Participants will consider key drivers for PPIE, learn from real-world examples of patient and public involvement in radiography research projects, and discuss common challenges and enablers of authentic engagement.

Through facilitated activities and discussion, attendees will be encouraged to reflect on their own research and develop ideas for involving patients and the public in a way that is relevant, beneficial, collaborative, and sustainable.

Session Information

Many manuscripts stall because of poor planning rather than poor science. This interactive workshop focuses on three critical steps to successful paper writing:

• agreeing a shared vision of the paper with your co-authors;
• planning a clear structure;
• drafting and editing more quickly and confidently.

You will leave with practical techniques that help write papers efficiently, while avoiding common pitfalls that can lead to delay or failure.

The session will aim to cover key elements that both grant reviewers and funding panels/committees consider crucial in a grant application.

It will provide specific tips and guidance for turning a research idea into a wonderful and fundable grant application.

The aim of  this session is to give an overview of what mixed methods research entails, including the latest developments in quantitative analysis.

Content

Exploration of how combining qualitative and quantitative approaches can generate more comprehensive and nuanced findings, and how these integrated methods can be applied across different stages of research from shaping questions and designing studies to analysing and interpreting complex data.
