Advanced formulated chemical products are essential to daily life: to stay healthy, warm, dry, fed, clean and connected. They include foods, pharmaceuticals, agrichemicals, paints and lubricants, personal care products, household care products and many more. IMSE's Affiliates contribute to developing these products via research in particle technology, colloid science, soft matter, process systems enginering and digital approaches, e.g. systems thinking, digital twins.

An increasingly important dimension of formulations development is adaptation to and mitigation of climate change. We are working with the Grantham Institute to embed these skills in formulations training, in a CDT developed jointly with the University of Leeds.

We are also working with the  (as well as academic partners) to develop innovation in sustainable formulations manufacturing.
