The Turing Scheme is the UK government's global programme to study and work abroad.

Applications for Turing Scheme funding for UG Study Abroad placements are now open!

Please check back later in the year for other activities.

The Department for Education has confirmed that the Turing Scheme has been extended for the year 2026/27. 51³Ô¹ÏÍø has applied for Turing Scheme funding and will learn the outcome of the bid in late summer.

51³Ô¹ÏÍø has committed to underwrite funding for students eligible for the enhanced funding rate, including 51³Ô¹ÏÍø Bursary recipients and students with disabilities, for 2026-27. Students of Black Heritage are also strongly encouraged to apply and will be prioritised for standard awards, or enhanced funding where other criteria are met. You can see the full criteria for enhanced funding below. This means funding will be available for students who meet the relevant criteria regardless of the outcome of the University's bid. We also welcome applications from other students, who may be considered for standard grants; to be confirmed after the outcome of the bid.

Students with Home (UK) and Overseas fee status are eligible to apply.

How to apply

Home (UK) and international students are all eligible to apply. Before applying, you will need to consider the individual eligibility criteria, application processes and deadlines for each activity.

How to Apply

Eligibility criteria

You are eligible to apply for the standard grant rate if you are a Home (UK) or international student, and studying an undergraduate, postgraduate taught or postgraduate research degree at 51³Ô¹ÏÍø.

If your application is successful, the standard grant rate you receive will be calculated by the length of stay, location of the activity and cost of living at the destination.

  • students receiving Universal Credit or income-related benefits because they are financially supporting themselves or financially supporting themselves and someone who is dependent on them and living with them, such as a child or partner
    students who are care experienced
  • students who have caring responsibilities
  • estranged students (where neither of the students’ parents can be found or it is not reasonably practicable to get in touch with either of them)
  • refugees and asylum seekers
  • students with disabilities (please note: Turing uses the term 'Students with Special Educational Needs or a Disability (SEND)', but 51³Ô¹ÏÍø recognises alternative terminology, in line with the Office for Students).

More information is available in the application form, where we will also ask for your consent to confirm your eligibility for the enhanced funding through relevant teams within the College.

Standard Rate of funding

Turing also recognises two groupings for location and cost of living, displayed below. For a list of countries in each group, please view the on the Government website.
