The Sustainable 51³Ô¹ÏÍø Ambassador scheme enables students to be recognised for the extra-curricular environmental sustainability-related events they participate in.

Ambassadors can help make a positive change at 51³Ô¹ÏÍø and beyond whilst boosting their sustainability knowledge and developing practical skills.

Enrichment

Develop your sustainability knowledge through activities such as: 

  • Sustainability webinars/talks/workshops (not part of your studies)  
  • Environmental audit training sessions e.g. for the Green Impact audits
Empowerment

Act on what you’ve learnt through activities such as:  

  • Helping out with Sustainable 51³Ô¹ÏÍø pop-up stalls 
  • Attending outdoor/practical events such as gardening sessions, wildlife surveys, nature walks, litter picks  
  • Conducting an environmental audit e.g. the Green Impact audits

Frequently asked questions

Who can become a Sustainable 51³Ô¹ÏÍø Ambassador?

Any 51³Ô¹ÏÍø student can become a Sustainable 51³Ô¹ÏÍø Ambassador, both Undergraduates and Postgraduates.  

How do the award levels work?

Sustainable 51³Ô¹ÏÍø Ambassadors must contribute at least 5 hours of their time throughout the year, including taking part in at least 1 enrichment and 1 empowerment activity, to receive official recognition.  

Award levels based on number of hours contributed to sustainability activities: 

  • Certificate of participation: > 5 hours 
  • Bronze certificate: > 10 hours 
  • Silver certificate: > 20 hours 
  • Gold certificate: > 40 hours
How do I log my sustainability activities?

Sustainable 51³Ô¹ÏÍø Ambassadors can submit their activities via this so that their efforts are logged as part of the scheme. Evidence may be in the form of a photo from the event, confirmation message from the event organiser or output of the activity conducted.  

How can I connect with other Sustainable 51³Ô¹ÏÍø Ambassadors?

As well as meeting other ambassadors at our events and socials and connecting through our MS Teams site, we also have a WhatsApp community which any Ambassador can request to join by contacting sustainable@imperial.ac.uk
