Hosted by Pamela Sachs Nique (Senior Teaching Technician, Department of Life Sciences), this informal session is an opportunity to connect and catch up with colleagues. There will also be a short talk from Learning and Talent on the new Technician Shadowing Scheme, and other development opportunities coming up this academic year.  Open to all technical staff whose work supports students and teaching at the university.   

• 51³Ô¹ÏÍø Technicians' Network: Hammersmith Meetup, 30 September, 12.00-13.30 (in person) Hammersmith

Are you working in a technical role at Hammersmith campus, or at another location nearby?  Come and join this informal lunchtime social to connect with technical colleagues. The theme of this session is job shadowing, and we will hear from Nana Asante Asamoah-Danso, Bioengineering Laboratory Support Technician, on his experience of shadowing technicians in other organisations. There will also be an update from Learning and Talent on 51³Ô¹ÏÍø’s new , and other development opportunities coming up this academic year.

• Research Culture & Research Integrity for Technical Professionals, 19 November, 09.00-17.00 (in person) South Kensington 

This new, one-day session is suitable for technical staff from any department at 51³Ô¹ÏÍø whose work supports research. Delivered in person by HEaTED, a specialist training provider for university technicians, it will explore how everyday decisions, team culture and research systems shape the work of technical professionals and the wider research community. You will develop an understanding of:

• key principles that underpin responsible and trustworthy research practice
• why research integrity and research culture are central to robust research, ethical decision making, data quality, safety and reliable outcomes
• how to identify common pressures, misunderstandings and risks that can lead to errors or poor practice
• how research integrity relates to your own role and on how your work contributes to the integrity and robustness of research outputs
• routes for advice, guidance, help and escalation when questions or concerns about research practice or culture arise

 This is a pilot programme, and ten places are available.
